The historical part of Istanbul is on the European side and is called the Golden Horn. It is on the European side that you will find famous historical attractions such as the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia Mosque, Galata Tower. 

Imagine yourself watching whirling dervishes in Galata Mevlevi Lodge, having a Turkish coffee with a slice of baklava in Karaköy or throwing bagels to seagulls while travelling by ferry between two continents. This city will mesmerise you!

Istanbul is a city full of activities that can attract all kinds of travellers from 7 to 70.  You should take daily guided tours of its famous museums and sights and buy tickets in advance to skip the long queues for tickets. 


The European Side, west of the Bosphorus, is the most popular part of Istanbul, where you can find the historical peninsula, popular museums and vibrant nightlife. 

It's also the most popular place to stay in Istanbul as most of the sights are located here, so although you'll be spending most of your time here, that doesn't mean the Asian side isn't worth a visit!
